telldir(DIRHANDLE)

     telldir DIRHANDLE

             Returns the current position of the  readdir()  rou-
             tines on DIRHANDLE.  Value may be given to seekdir()
             to access a particular location in a directory.  Has
             the same caveats about possible directory compaction
             as the corresponding system library routine.
